East Coast Car Association

The East Coast Car Association has been holding an annual Toy Run since 1999.

Begun by our Founder, Eddie Walter, the Toy Run is held each November and typically averages over 100 cars and motorcycles filled with toys for the children of St. Mary's Hospital for Children. It is also during the ceremony at the hospital when we present St. Mary's with our annual donation, which was over $15,100 dollars in 2011 and a total of over $90,000 since 1999.

The Toy Run begins at the Forest Park Bandshell Parking Lot and makes it's way through Queens with a police escort to St. Mary's where we present our donation and hand out the toys to the kids.

Toy Run is on November 18. This year we will be assembling at the bandshell parking lot in Forest Park. For directions, please click here. We will then leave for St. Mary's beginning at 12:30 P.M..

WHAT KIND OF TOYS SHOULD WE BRING 2012 TOY RUN

ECCA has pledged $25,000 to St. Mary's Hospital to be used for a treatment room in the new Patient Pavilion. The treatment room will be dedicated to our founder and past president, Eddie Walter.

Our pledge amount must reached in 3 to 5 years.

The Patient Pavilion is a 114 million dollar expansion program for the hospital. The groundbreaking ceremony will be on October 6, 2010.

At the request of St. Mary's, we are therefore asking participants of this year's Toy Run to donate cash instead of toys. However, if you'd prefer to bring a toy rather than make a cash donation or in addition to a cash donation, we have been asked by St.Mary's to limit toys to interactive or electronic toys. Due to the construction, St. Mary's will be lacking in storage space and will be unable to store larger toys. St. Mary's is also requesting that you not bring stuffed or plush toys this year.

Please note that all of our efforts in raising money will go to honor our pledge.

Once the new pavilion is completed in 2012, we will resume collecting toys and other necessary items for the hospital during future Toy Runs.
